Ben Garrett put out two of 2013’s slickest indie/RnB singles in ‘Cool Like Me’ and ‘The Power’, now the young producer/vocalist is finally readying a new album inThe Power. Signed to Fiction, after a quibble with former label, Warner, Fryars takes his ever-so-slightly nerdy electronica to the next level, employing a deluge of pitter-patter synths, gloopy samples and garbled, clipped bass on ‘Prettiest Ones Fly Highest’. He’s calling this new LP “a soundtrack to a film that does not exist.” On the basis of this stargazing, weird-pop banger, he’s not remotely joking.
